Thanks so much for your talk which was very inspiring.

Very interesting about the woman who misguidedly wanted a Fair Trade label. I've become much more conscious in recent years of trying to buy things with minimal middlemen where possible, i.e., directly from the designer/craftsperson. It makes for a happier, more personal and less globalised experience.

you are so right.... there is a misconception of Fair Trade labels anyway.. some are big companies that may have jumped the loops to get certified...but they are ruthless when it comes to supporting the little retailers that have helped them on their way up and when the bigger department stores snap them up they turn their back to the little shops... I have seen this happen quite often.. disgraceful they should call themselves 'Fair Trade' when they are anything but...it really drives me nuts...

What a fantastically interesting interview.
The answers are all so intelligent, relevant and well-thought out.
"My purchases are driven more by my love affair with the piece than if it will or will not suit me..." I very very strongly relate to this. It is always love for me, and always independent of if it will or will not suit me. I've bought scarves where the sales person is unsure of how the color looks on me, and I've replied, "It only matters how it looks 'to' me, not on me." When I bought my glasses, it was because I fell in love with them on the shelf.

I knew I wasn't alone.. it happens to me all the time...

Just came across this one ... thank you so much, very happy to be on your list and completely agree with your choices. And so excited that you are doing a collection for my home country ... which will be a perfect match.
